WBC INTERNATIONAL SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION

Name : Kid Galahad Date of birth : 3rd March 1990 Height : 5'6" Style : Orthodox Birthplace : Qatar Home Town : Sheffield County : Yorkshire Country : UK Divison : Super Bantamweight Trainer : Dominic Ingle

Kid Galahad, real name, Abdul Barry Awad, may talk with a thick Sheffield accent, but he was actually born in the Qatar's capital Doha in March 1990.

Barry's dad was in the Qatari army and was released as part of an agreement with the Americans."

After the conclusion of the Gulf War, Galahad, aged three at the time, came to England with his Yemeni parents and eventually ended up in Sheffield.

After a colourful upbringing in which it involved getting thrown out of a number of schools, Kid Galahad at the age of 14 took up boxing with Brendan Ingle and hasn't looked back since changing his life around. He has racked up ten wins from his first ten professional contests (four by knock out).

Galahad is a craftsman and looks the part when sparing or working out in the gym and his big task will be to take that into the ring on a regular basis.

He loves to showboat and embarrass others in the ring with him by dancing around them and even having the cheek to give the other boxer a peck on the cheek.

His Yemeni and Ingle roots will obviously lead to comparisons with former world champion Naseem Hamed, who is also of Yemeni heritage and Galahad has shown Naz-style flashes with his speed and skill.

Named after the 1962 about a boxer starring Elvis, which he used to watch with the Ingles when he was younger, he's already highly-rated and he plans on being the king of the ring.

When you look at Kid Galahad, you do not think Elvis, more like a young looking version of Prince - Prince Naseem that is.

Kid Galahad will be vying for his first professional title when he takes on former British and Commonwealth champion and IBF world title challenger, Nottingham's Jason "2 smooth" Booth for the WBC International Super Bantamweight title, which has been previously held by great fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Naseem Hamed.
