JUNIOR WITTER plans to return to boxing with a bang - by claiming Matthew Hatton's European crown.
Witter, 36, has not boxed since failing to win the vacant WBC light-welterweight title against Devon Alexander last August.
But the Hitter is plotting his comeback after recovering from an injury sustained while playing football.
And having chased a domestic showdown with Ricky Hatton for a number of years, he now has his sights set on the Mancunian's younger brother.
Witter said: "A British, Commonwealth or European belt is a stepping stone.
"Denton Vassell's the Commonwealth champion, so he's a possible target, but Hatton's the European champion.
"I don't see winning one of those being a problem at all, then I want to move up to the world scene and get a title shot.
"Andre Berto's WBC title is the one I want, but there are other champions out there."
Witter believes the move up to welterweight will revitalise his career.
And the Sheffield stylist is in a hurry to make up for lost time.
He added: "It's been very frustrating. I've been out of the gym for about six months and have got very restless.
"But now I've moved up to welterweight and want to win another title to get back on top."
