HADDENHAM boxer Tyler Goodjohn is set to make his highly anticipated debut in the professional ranks with a bout at one of London's most famous boxing venues.
Goodjohn opted to make the leap from promising amateur to fledgling pro in June after a final flourish in front of home fans in Haddenham but the 19-year-old will be in altogether different surroundings when he starts life in the paid ranks with a bout at the famous York Hall in Bethnal Green.
Goodjohn, a former junior ABA champion, will be fighting on the undercard of a packed schedule that is set to feature Olympic bronze medallist Terrence Cauthen and English Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury, though Goodjohn's opponent for the clash has yet to be announced.
After learning his trade in the amateur ranks with Haddenham ABC's Mick Sawyer, Goodjohn has now joined up with Essex coach Tony Sims who also trains European Champion Darren Baker and Southern Area Champion Lee Purdy.
Goodjohn said: "It's always been in the pipeline for me to turn pro and that decision was made even easier by teaming up with Tony Sims. He's not only a top bloke but also fantastic trainer who has already taught me so much in the last six months.
"I will be bringing a good crowd with me to York Hall and hopefully I will reward them by putting on an exciting show and recording my first win."
Tickets for the event, which takes place on Friday, September 10 from 6.30pm cost between £35-£60. Call 07950685475 fir more information.
