Lightening Lenny Daws looking to retain British Title against former European Title holder
Hennessy Sports27th January, 2010
LONDON (Jan 27th, 2010) British Champion Lenny Daws is looking to retain his Light Welterweight title against Former European Lightweight Champion Jason Cook at York Hall, Bethnal Green on Friday 12th February 2010 on a Matchroom Sports in association with Hennessy Sports show. Daws v Cook will be headlining the event which will be shown live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD 1 from 10pm.
Daws said "I took some time out after my win against Barry Morrison back in September when I reclaimed the British title, but I have been back in training for some time now and all has gone to plan and sparring has been great.
"To defend my title against a former European Champion is a real challenge but a good move for me, I am going to use this opportunity to gain experience in the ring with someone who has been there and done it. I know he's only recently back after taking a few years away from the sport, but he's shown that he still has the hunger and desire to take on the best in Britain as he recently proved in Prizefighter, but he knows that to get his hands on the famous Lonsdale belt for the first time he's going to have to beat the best."
Mick Hennessy said "Lenny's matured in to a top quality pro and I feel 2010 is going to be a real big year for him. Lenny has a big engine and an all action style; I feel he's going to be a very hard fighter to beat over 12 rounds. We will certainly not be overlooking Jason Cook as he's an explosive and very dangerous fighter. This is a great fight for the prestigious British title".
Daws added "Tickets are selling fast and I expect a packed York Hall shouting my name on the 12th February"
The undercard will include the vacant English Light-Welterweight title between Michael Grant v Steve Williams.
Tickets for the bout priced £30 unreserved and £50 ringside and are available from Matchroom Sports on
