Hennessy backing Fury to shine

Setanta Sports - Mark Doyle6th April, 2009

Promoter Mick Hennessy is expecting Tyson Fury to further enhance his status as one of the most exciting young fighters in the heavyweight division when he takes on Matthew Ellis at the York Hall on Saturday night.

Fury has won his first four professional bouts inside the distance and is already being talked about as a potential future world champion.

Consequently, Hennessy has no qualms about putting his 20-year-old charge in with Ellis, who has just 6 defeats on his 27-fight record.

"I believe Ellis represents another decent test for Tyson at this stage in his career," he admitted.

"I've matched him aggressively so far but Tyson has answered all the questions asked of him to date.

"If you look at the combined record of his first 5 opponents they had a total of 82 wins between them. That kind of statistic shows how much confidence I have in Tyson to match him with guys like that so early in his career."

John O'Donnell and Craig Watson's bout for the Commonwealth welterweight title tops the bill at Bethnal Green.
