FROCH HITS BACK AT 'MISGUIDED' TAYLOR

Sporting Life15th April, 2009

Carl Froch has hit back at Jermain Taylor ahead of their world title clash at the MGM Grand, Foxwoods.

Former undisputed middleweight king Taylor said he couldn't see how Froch could win their April 25 fight, but the undefeated WBC super-middleweight champ is unperturbed.

Froch said: "I guess he has to say stuff like that to get him in a good frame of mind. That's fine. On April 25 he'll see how misguided he is.

"I love when people think I'm not that great on tape. They think I'm slow and awkward. They find out about me in a hurry once they step in to the ring with me."

And Froch insists it is Taylor who should be worried about the step up in weight to 168lbs.

"Clearly his best days were at 160lbs. But on April 25 we're going to see what he has left. For his sake it had better be more that what we've seen out of him lately," Froch added.

"The reality is that I'm too big and strong for him."

Froch has Jean Pascal - the man he beat in December to take the title - in his camp for the Taylor fight and believes the Canadian's presence can only help.

The Nottingham fighter is also relishing the prospect of making his US debut in such a tough, high-profile fight.

"Jean showed last December that he's a world class warrior, and one of the top super middleweights in the world. I'm a better fighter for facing him last year, and I'll be even better against Taylor having him in my camp.

"This shows how serious I am. That I want to fight true superstars in their primes, and show the world I'm not just a guy who will stay in one spot for an easy payday.

"Joe Calzaghe waited until he was an old man to come over stateside, and then fought two guys who were past it. I want to show the world how it should be done."
