Froch v Calzaghe - on Weakest Link!

This is Nottingham30th April, 2009

BOXING champ Carl Froch is to take on the scariest match of his career so far - going head-to-head with Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link.

Nottingham's super-middleweight champion is to take part in a special version of the BBC show, featuring boxing champs from the last few decades.

Among those rumoured to be appearing on the show with him are Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn.

His biggest rival, Joe Calzaghe, is also due to appear, meaning the pair can settle their war of words once and for all - without a boxing glove in sight.

But Froch says he is most looking forward to taking on the fearsome presenter.

"It will be more of a task taking on Anne Robinson.

"She can be quite harsh, but I think I will just tell her I fancy her; she seems to like a bit of flirting!"

Froch is due to travel to the BBC studios in London to record the show in the next few weeks, but it is not yet known when it will be aired.

He said: "It should be a good laugh.

"I've been asked to do a Question of Sport as well, but I'm not sure when.

"I think it's important to get my face out there after everything I've achieved."

Froch, of Carlton, returned to Nottingham this weekend after successfully defending his super middleweight title against Jermain Taylor in Connecticut.

He said he intends to take a few weeks out from the sport to heal following the fight.

A spokeswoman for the BBC confirmed they are filming a boxing special of The Weakest Link in the next few weeks, but said she could not confirm the line-up.
