Tyson Fury Doubts He'll Get a Shot Against Williams

Undefeated British heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury (6-0 6 Kos) doesn't see himself getting a chance at fighting BBofC heavyweight champion Danny Williams now that Derek Chisora has been suspended for four months for biting Paul Butlin in his last fight.

Chisora had been slated to fight Williams on June 27th on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Andriy Kotelnik World Boxing Association light welterweight championship bout at the O2 arena, in London, England. However, the suspension removed Chisora as a potential challenger, leaving a void for another heavyweight to step in for the bout.

Given the lack of quality heavyweights in Britain, it would have been a perfect bout for the young 21-year-old Fury to step in and take on the 35-year-old Williams. The problem is Fury hasn't fought beyond four rounds yet in his early one year pro career.

Fury, who just turned twenty-one on June 1st, would take the fight against Williams if it were offered to him, but Fury doubts that he'll be able to get the chance because of the risk of something going wrong in the bout.

Having a fighter with only four round experience put in with a heavyweight like Williams, who is accustomed to fighting 12 round bouts, is a risky thing and could result in injury for the fighter not accustomed to fighting that far into a bout.

Fury thinks he could easily fight a 15-round fight if given the chance, but he probably won't be allowed to get that chance. Unless he hears otherwise, Fury will be fighting on June 13th against a still to be named opponent at Robin Park Centre, in Lancashire.
