Froch-Pavlik in works for January

Setanta Sports11th June, 2009

Bob Arum told Steve Bunce's Boxing Hour that he is in discussions about Carl Froch fighting Kelly Pavlik in January.

It had been thought that Pavlik would fight IBF champion Arthur Abraham later in the year, but he does not seem to be in Arum's plans at present.

One fighter who could be in line to fight the popular WBC/WBO champion is Froch though, due to his exciting performance on his American debut against Jermain Taylor.

Next for The Cobra will probably be a unification contest against IBF super-middleweight champion Lucien Bute, but after that could be a mouth-watering contest with Pavlik.

"Top Rank has discussed that fight," Arum said on Setanta Sports News.

"Yesterday we met with HBO and talked about Pavlik fighting Felix Sturm later in the year and as soon as January he could fight Froch."
