Carl Froch to champion city

Boxing champion Carl Froch has been appointed as an official ambassador for Nottingham and will be paid £32,000 for his services.

The World Super-Middleweight Boxing title holder will be championing his home city after Nottingham City Council, Crime and Drugs Partnership and One Nottingham signed a deal with him.

The year-long arrangement will see Carl undertake a range of promotional activity on behalf of the three organisations, with £8,000 coming from One Nottingham and the Crime and Drugs Partnership, respectively, and £16,000 from the council.

Activity will include Carl displaying the Robin Hood and "Proud of Nottingham" logos on his robe at World Boxing Championship bouts. Carl Froch will also actively promote Nottingham at opportunities both in the UK and abroad, including World Championship Boxing bouts.

He will take part in a number of agreed appearances and endorsements for events and activities. These will be aimed at promoting sports, health, community safety and other high profile activities in line with the key priorities of the organisations concerned.

Deputy Leader of Nottingham City Council, Coun Graham Chapman, said: "Nottingham City Council has a proven record of support for, and engagement with, the City's proud sporting heritage and achievements including Trent Bridge, Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Torvill and Dean.

"Carl Froch is a local hero who can help to inspire people and because of his world title status, help shine the spotlight positively on Nottingham. We are pleased to be working with Carl who is a fantastic ambassador for the city."
