Win genuine WBC champions medal

This is Nottingham17th June, 2009

BOXING fans will be battling it out for these knockout prizes donated to the Post's £500,000 Maggie's appeal.

We have a special collector's item - a medal awarded to World Boxing Council champions.

The intricately designed three-inch medal is overlaid with gold with the WBC logo in the centre.

This memorabilia has been donated by the WBC to raise money for the appeal to build a cancer caring centre in the grounds of Nottingham City Hospital.

The WBC has also donated a limited edition white T-shirt which world super middleweight boxer Carl Froch will autograph.

The two items are being auctioned through a charity auction website www.buyoncegivetwice.co.uk.

The starting prices are £250 for the medal and £30 for the T-shirt. The auction will run until July 3.

Spokeswoman Clare Goatham said: "We are thrilled to be auctioning these items on behalf of Maggie's. Our aim is to raise additional funds for charities of any size and cause and by auctioning items on the web we can provide charities with a huge and targeted audience."

Proceeds from both auctions will go to the appeal, which currently stands at £404,870.

WBC spokesman David Walker said: "The WBC are proud to support the charity and think the work by the Post is fantastic."

One of the auction site's biggest successes was a Fender Stratocaster hand-painted by Gerald Scarfe and signed by all of the members of Pink Floyd, which sold for £16,000.
