Hennessy Sports30th June, 2011
"The Phil Gill Experience" will be in action on the undercard of "The Big Brawl" event live from Wembley Arena on Saturday 23rd July.
The main event features the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight title fight between undefeated challenger Tyson Fury and champion Dereck "Del Boy" Chisora.
"The Big Brawl" presented by Hennessy Sports, will be shown live and exclusively in the UK on Channel 5.
"I'm over the moon to be on the bill" said Phil. "There's been some great British fights at Wembley Arena over the years, the likes of Cooper, Conteh, Minter, Magri, Bruno, Lewis, Honeyghan and they've have all brought Wembley Arena to life, I'll be making sure I do the same."
The former Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineer who's toured in Kosovo and Afghanistan has been juggling a day job alongside studying to be a personal trainer and has racked up 10 wins since turning pro in March 2009. "I keep myself in great shape. I live and breathe boxing and I'm always ready for a phone call so I never stay out of the gym for more than a few days between fights.
"With working full time as well as studying it's hard to get sparring as most pros train during the day, but my preparations for this fight are going to plan, most of the work we have left to do is just fine tuning. I would normally arrange sparring with Lee Purdy and a few of his stable mates but my next opponent is a southpaw so we had to look elsewhere, so I'm sparring with some lads who are looking to turn pro at the moment, they have similar styles to the guy I am scheduled to fight on the 23rd.
The light welterweight from Waltham Abbey is relishing the chance to shine in front of a large crowd at Wembley Arena "It's a massive opportunity for me to shine in front of thousand's, the crowd will experience something purple!" added Gill "I don't come to look pretty, I come to win at any cost, I'm value for money and I'm never in a dull fight!
"I'm a fighter with a big heart and I feel that's my biggest strength as well as my mental toughness.
"I'm out to make a statement that I belong on big shows like this and that I can perform to the highest level. I'm grateful to Hennessy Sports for the chance to showcase what I'm all about.
"It's time I announced myself on the big stage, just don't blink!!!"
