Froch Turns Down Green

WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has turned a clash with American Allen Green in favour of facing undefeated countryman Andre Dirrell.

Green, who defeated Carlos De Leon Jr on the undercard of Froch's exciting 12th round stoppage win over Jermain Taylor on April 25, has repeatedly called out the undefeated champion but Froch seems more interested in facing Dirrell

Talking to the Nottingham Evening Post Froch said: "He (Green) certainly talks a good 'un. But if he thinks he can come over to Nottingham and knock me out in six rounds, he's mental.

"He's just looking to put food on his plate.

"Why should I give him a shot? No one gave me a chance, did they? I had to fight an eliminator with Jean Pascal, who has shown just how tough he is by winning the world light-heavyweight title.

"Then I had to go to America to defend against Jermain Taylor.

Ideally Froch would like to face either modern day legend Bernard Hopkins, middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik or No.1 168 pounder Mikkel Kessler. But those fights seem highly unlikely to come to fruition so Dirrell seems the next best option.
