WBC champ Froch, Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Jermain Taylor, Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell have all signed up to the round-robin competition to crown the best fighter in the division.

The tourney, which will consist of nine preliminary bouts followed by the semi-finals and final, is scheduled to begin on October 10 with 32-year-old Froch facing Dirrell in Nottingham.

On the same night, Abraham - who is stepping up from middleweight - will square off with Taylor in Germany.

Win or lose, the six fighters will each box at least three times with the top four advancing to the semi-finals based on their points totals.

Each boxer will be awarded two points for a win, an additional point if he wins by knockout and one for a draw.

Contractually, mandatory bouts cannot interfere with a tournament fight and the final is expected to be take place in May or June 2011.

American TV firm Showtime will make an official announcement on Monday at Madison Square Garden. All six fighters, along with their promoters, will be in attendance in New York.
