JUNIOR WITTER has been warned retirement could be his best option if he fails to regain the vacant WBC light-welterweight title next month. Witter, 35, takes on American Devon Alexander in Rancho Mirage, California, on August 1. They will battle it out for the crown Witter lost 14 months ago against Timothy Bradley in a split decision. The Bradford fighter's straight-talking trainer Dominic Ingle said: "If he loses and gets knocked out he would drop down the ratings back possibly to European level, and he certainly doesn't want that. "It would be hard to get back up to the top again and he may even lose interest in the sport."
