It's time to get behind boxing

CARL FROCH fears boxing will be left on the ropes if British fans are denied the chance to see the Super Six series on TV.

The groundbreaking tournament - featuring Froch, Mikkel Kessler, Jermain Taylor, Arthur Abraham, Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward - has the backing of major network Showtime Sports in America.

But fans of the sweet science this side of the pond face an anxious wait to discover if they will be able to watch Froch and Co in action.

And the Cobra insists the likes of Sky, ESPN and ITV would be mad to miss out.

The WBC super-middleweight champion said: "It would be a massive shame if British boxing fans are robbed of this event.

"But I don't think it's going to happen because it will be a total injustice.

"Boxing pulls TV audiences. It always has done since day dot and it always will do.

"People love to tune in and watch a good scrap - especially when I'm boxing."

Froch, 32, kicks off his bid to be crowned the undisputed super-middleweight king against Dirrell in Nottingham on October 17.

He will fight twice more in the group stage, against Kessler and Abraham, as he bids to book a place in the semi-finals.
