Purdy gets revenge on McDonagh

PETE McDonagh suffered the 15th defeat of his career as Lee Purdy avenged his loss to the Bermondsey boxer on Saturday.

McDonagh was in one of the undercard fights of 2008 with the then unbeaten Purdy, winning a 96-94 points decision after 10 enthralling rounds.

But the ex-Fisher amateur could not repeat the feat at Watford Colosseum at the weekend, as referee Jeff Hinds scored it 98-94 in his opponent's favour. The vacant Southern Area welterweight title was at stake.
