Details of the nominees for the BBC East Midlands Sports Personality of the Year Award 2009.
The winner will be announced at the BBC East Midlands Sports Awards, supported by Loughborough University, at Loughborough University on Thursday 3rd December in front of a 'sell out' audience.
There are five nominees - the winner will be decided by text vote. Voting opens on Monday 23rd November at 6pm and closes on Friday 30th November at 11pm
Carl Froch
Nottingham's World Champion boxer. The former Loughborough College student won and twice retained the WBC Super Middleweight Title. He is now part of the Super Six World Boxing Classic with his fights live on primetime American TV.

Hayley Turner
The Nottinghamshire jockey became the first woman to ride 100 winners in a year and was also used as the face of The Derby. She was also the British captain in the Shergar Cup and shrugged off a career threatening injury to return to racing.

Liam Tancock
The Loughborough swimmer who is world champion in the 50m backstroke. He broke the world record to win the gold medal in Rome. He previously beat the world record in the semi final at the same event.

Lizzie Neave
The Nottingham paddler who won team gold and individual bronze at the World Canoe Slalom Championships in Spain. Lizzie, a Loughborough 2012 Sports scholar, also won a team gold at the European Championships in Nottingham.

Stuart Broad
The Nottinghamshire cricketer who helped England win the Ashes with a five wicket burst in the final test at The Oval. Stuart went to Oakham School and played for Leicestershire. He began the summer being named England's Man of the Series against West Indies.
