Heavyweights Tyson Fury and Christian Hammer both took to the scales this afternoon ahead of their heavyweight encounter tomorrow night (February 28) at London’s O2 Arena.
Challenger Hammer, unbeaten in his last ten fights, looked athletic and fit and weighed 239 pounds. Fury, meanwhile, was 23 pounds heavier at 262 pounds.
If nothing else, the readings offer an insight into how both men might approach tomorrow’s assignment. Hammer, the shorter man, and significantly lighter, will be best served trying to get inside Fury’s considerable reach and then initiating a brawl at close quarters, while Fury, known for his ability to box from long range, will look to spear Hammer from a distance and gradually break him up over the course of the scheduled 12 rounds.
Either way, it promises to be a spectacular show. Rarely does Tyson Fury disappoint.
