James DeGale MBE will put everything on the line when he faces ‘Dangerous’ Dyah Davis on Saturday November 16th at Glow, Bluewater.

The WBC Silver super middleweight champion, DeGale, aims to give “a great performance” and prove he is “ready” for the best when he defends his title against the tough American, Davis, live on Channel 5.

“I see Davis as a really good test and I want to get in there and stick on a great performance for all the fans and do a good job on him,” DeGale said.

“I’m going to go in there full of confidence, I’m going to be super fit and I’m basically going to go in there and try and get him out of there.”

But Davis is the former NABF super middleweight champion and in 2012 faced the current WBC world super middleweight champion Sakio Bika for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title.

Boasting a professional record that includes 22 wins and having shared the ring with Bika, lasting until the final round of their 10-round contest, Davis is unfazed and ready to give James a firm test.

“I’m very excited to be facing DeGale,” Davis said.

“I know what I’m up against going into his backyard, I’ve been in this position before and I’m going to do everything I can to come out victorious.

“I did it before against Marcus Johnson, where I was the underdog and going into the fight as the sacrificial lamb against an undefeated fighter and I caused the upset.

“I’m looking to do that again this time out and I’m looking at going home with everything that this man contains right now; including his championship belt and all his positions in the world rankings and sanctioning bodies.”

But, the man fondly known as ‘Chunky’, knows he is close to his world title opportunity and isn’t overlooking his latest opponent.

“I know I’m only a couple of fights away from a world title, so I want to go in there and do a good job on him,” the 2008 Olympic gold medalist said.

“But, that said, I’m not looking passed him, I give everyone I face respect and this is no different.

“Let’s be fair, he’s been in with some top fighters, he’s faced Bika, so if I get in there and do it better than him, I think I’m making a statement and it will show that I am world class.”

This will be James’ third fight of 2013 after demolishing Sebastien Demers inside two rounds on his North American debut and confident stoppage win over Stjepan Bozic in his last fight at Glow, Bluewater.

“I think Davis is a quality test for James and this match will show us just how good James DeGale is,” Mick Hennessy said.

“James is a world class fighter and this will be a perfect opportunity to give the fans what they want – excitement, skills and proof that James is ready for anyone in the division.”
