Fran Hennessy continues to impress after picking up her second professional victory with a points win over Lucrecia Arrieta.
Her experienced Argentinean opponent knew her way around the ring, but right from the opening bell it was clear she was no match for Hennessy’s hand and foot-speed, as the Sevenoaks fighter went on to dominate all six rounds
Arrieta met Hennessy with flurries when she could and lobbed the occasional right hand over the top, but the sharper Hennessy was too equipped to be caught as she banged in her own sharp left hooks to both the body and head.
A precise straight-right counter in the 5th knocked Arrieta down to the canvas face-first, but the referee overruled and forced the Argentinean back up to continue. Hennessy continued to chip away at Arrieta – who tired rapidly from the body shots and frequently fell to the canvas to buy time.
Hennessy may have just narrowly missed out on a stoppage (thanks largely to Arrieta’s survival instincts), but nonetheless, her second pro fight was another demonstration of her extremely impressive talents. Good ring IQ, educated footwork and rapid combinations, Hennessy continues to meet the high expectations placed on her.
