Marshall and Shields Battle Through 10 Rounds
Savannah Marshall and Claressa Shields thrilled boxing audiences with a relentless 10-round war. The American walked away with all four world titles with a unanimous decision
It was fast, furious and everything an electrifying O2 Arena had hoped for, with Shields igniting the action with a rapid-fire combinations, only for Marshall to respond immediately by backing the American into the corner with her sheer power.
The UK favourite enjoyed the better of the action in a frantic second, catching her opponent with thumping right before appearing to goad Shields as the pair continued to trade blows.
The action didn’t slow in the subsequent rounds, as Shields’s slicker, cleaner boxing, collided with Marshall’s relentless pressure and power punching which was always on hand to thump the body, head, arms, and shoulders of a very skilful, elusive Shields.
The fight finished as it had started, both women unloading vicious combinations in one final assault, but Shields emerged victorious as she added the WBO title to her WBC, IBF and WBA belts.
